What to do

Mount Teide

A visit to Tenerife is not complete without a trip to the stunning Mount Teide.

At an astonishing height of 3,718 metres, the summit of El Teide is the highest point in the whole of the Spain.

The ascent to the majestic mountain takes you along weaving roads which are embraced by flourishing flora and a crisp, cool breeze which whistles over the rocky terrain.

This lush natural paradise gives way to an alien volcanic landscape, where bizarre rock formations populate the otherwise sparse environment at the foot of Teide.

From here, the most comfortable way to reach the top of the volcano is by cable car, which will take you to within 200 metres of the summit.

Here, incandescent yellow and white smouldering rocks encompass the crater at the mouth of Mount Teide, whilst wisps of sulphurous steam escape from fumaroles.
